One of these days I’m gonna draw a Space Opera comic, because why not. Seems like it would be loads of fun. XD
So here’s two characters (on the left) I’ve developed with that in mind.

Edit the second (I'm so full of lies):
So I was looking through the other contestants awesome entries when I realized some of them set up the scene. So I thought maybe I should do that.....
(Eeek, boring fiction. You can skip, it's not my strong suit. XD)
“The dirt’s so soft, here. Like powdered sugar. But red,” Zip said, poking the ground enthusiastically. In sharp contrast, Q’s face remained blank as he gazed down at her actions. His mouth might be in a flat line of expressionlessness, but she could tell he was having fun. Probably.
“This is likely a freshly dried riverbed. As we are unstudied in this planet’s weather patterns I would suggest-“
“Oo, what that?” She sprang to her feet.
Q blinked, once, then shifted in the direction of where she was pointing. “It appears to be a bush.”
“We should name it Zip Bush!”
He stared at her. His face might still be a blank slate but she could tell he was totally on board with this. She had just spotted a rock that she thought was a good candidate to be called ‘Zip Rock’, when a sound cracked across the sky, sudden and sharp, bouncing off the rocky terrain. Zip’s eyes just barely caught a glimpse of something metal, and vaguely humanoid shaped before it disappeared behind a large boulder.
“What was that?” she asked, her ears still ringing.
Q frowned down at his recorder. “Unknown.”
“Awesome, let’s go!”
“We should wait and calculate the risk of-“
“Can’t hear you, come on!” Zip said from forty feet away. She glance back to see Q follow after her, a slightly downward turn of his eyebrows showing possible displeasure. Nah, he’s probably having blast.
“If they’re machines, we’ll name them Zipbots!” She shouted as she ran on ahead.
